Frequently Asked Questions

 

How can I play on the team?
Anyone is welcome to inquire about openings on the team. Interested candidates should send an email to info@VipersFastPitch.org with the player's age, birth year and experience in previous positions.


Where are the home games played?
The home fields are located in Carlyle, IL. Practices are typically held in Carlyle either outside on a diamond or in our indoor batting cages. The location of games depends on whether the games are tournament based, league games or independent / scrimmage games.


Where can I find the schedule?
The schedule links are sent out once the schedule has been completed and  typically come out around Febr and are subject to change.


How far can we expect to travel for games?
Practice games, round robins and double headers will typically be no further than a 20-40 mile radius. Exceptions will include tournaments usually within 70 miles.


How many games do we play in a season?
Dependent upon age group and success at tournaments, normally around 30 to 60 games in a season. 


Is this team only for Clinton County residents?
No, anyone is welcome to try out for the team regardless of residency. Vipers Fastpitch teams currently consist of players from Albers, Aviston, Breese, Carlyle, Centralia, Greenville, Highland, Keyesport, Marion, Mascoutah, Mount Vernon, Mulberry Grove, Nashville, New Baden, Odin, Okawville, Ramsey, Salem, St. Rose, Trenton, Vandalia, etc.


What is the age group for this team?
Tryouts for the 2020 season will be for ages 8 and under through 18 years of age.


What level of commitment can we expect?
The commitment typically begins with team bonding in September. Practices for the 2020 season will begin in September and last throughout October tournament play. Colder weather practices are held at an indoor batting facility in Carlyle, IL.


Are lessons available?
Yes, lessons are offered t a 25% discount year round to help with pitching, catching, base running, hitting, defense and conditioning. Lessons may be booked by clicking the following link: SouthernAll-Stars Softball Training
